Grey Seals of Donna Nook

21st November 2008
Another visit to Donna Nook to photograph the grey seals was the order of the day. I set off from Stockport at 6.00am and arrived at Donna Nook at 8.15am after a 137 mile drive. The weather was as predicted by the weather man, which was acutally quite amazing.I set off walking the slog to the waters edge which took about 20 minutes in water that soaked me way above my ankles, wellingtons will be in order next time. There didn't seem to be as many pups lying around with their mothers this year compared to the same time last year which saw significantly more. The bulls were lying around without a care in the world and the odd scuffle broke out. There were 2 dead pups on the approach to the waters edge aswell. There were approx 20 photographers scattered around the beach all morning all trying not to get in each others way. The light started to diminish around mid-day but started to brighten up slightly about 1.00pm, the wind wasn't too bad either. I have uploaded approx 20 photographs for you to have a look at, as this site is limited to how many photographs I can upload.I will be going again in the coming weeks to get some more pup shots and also try and get the adult seals crashing through the waves and some bull's fighting over the females.I might even get some shots of Sanderlings as they were running around at the waters adge.
