This was taken at Brockholes Nature reserve, Preston, May 15th 2011.

DESCRIPTION
Males have metallic blue bodies, and there is a large smoky-blue patch on each of the four wings, readily visible in flight. Females are green-bronze and usually lack the wing colour.

FOOD
Small insects in flight.

SIZE
Abdomen length 34mm - 40mm
