Wildlife photographer in the UK
Alan Saunders a UK wildlife photographer. I live in Stockport, Cheshire on the outskirts of some great wildlife country, with the peak district just an hours drive away. Wildlife photography is an obsession of mine and I use all of my free time going out with my camera to capture wildlife, It’s one of the most rewarding areas of photography. You don’t always get it right, but that’s what makes photography great. I love Scotland and will be going back there when ever I can. It’s one of, if not the best, place for wildlife in the UK and the Isle of Mull for me is the mecca in Scotland for wildlife. The land of the White Tailed Eagle and the Golden Eagle not forgetting the elusive Eurasian Otter and the other wildlife and stunning scenery Mull has to offer. Presently, I seem to be concentrating on wild bird photography, which this website depicts more than any other wildlife at the moment. I prefer to take photographs of birds in flight rather than a portrait or the bird just sitting on something. Its more of a challenge to get a good shot of a bird in flight at great speed than motionless, it also makes the shot look more dramatic. Bird photography is not easy by any means and when you spend all day from the early hours of the morning trying to get THE shot its very rewarding when you finally get it. Just getting one good shot out of a full days photography is rewarding and makes the day worth it, but more IS obviously better. I am quite willing to go on assignments for people to get shots that they have in mind for there particular projects or publications they are working on. I do presentations for camera clubs, bird watching and natural history societies. This I enjoy doing and hopefully I will be doing a lot more in the future. I enter a lot of International and National photographic competitions and have been quite succssessful over the years. I won a GOLD medal for best set of four images entered in the NORTHERN COUNTIES INTERNATIONAL photographic competition. Approx 40 different countries entered this comp, so this was something very special for me to win. I have over 100 acceptances in International exhibitions with many very highly commended and honourable mentions.. I'm a member of NORTH CHESHIRE PHOTOGRAPHIC SOCIETY which is based in poynton, Cheshire http://www.ncps.org.uk/ Joining this camera club is one of the best decisions I have made, it has helped my photography tremendously. It is well recommended joining a club if you have just taken up photography. I have sold quite a lot of my images to various magazines and publishers and people who just want a copy of one of my images for their wall in a frame.
Throughout my website you will see images of wildlife I've taken from around the UK, from the Shetland isles, Isle of Harris, Isle of Uist, Isle of Mull, Isle of Arran, Isle of Skye, mainland Scotland and all over England. My favourite destination in the UK is the Isle of Mull, if the weather conditions are right, it is a wildlife photographer’s paradise, with White Tailed and Golden Eagles flying around, and Otters in most of the Lochs, where else would you want to be, there is always something to photograph. My images have been used in book publications and have featured in many magazines.
